German Courses in Dresden since 1998

German Course Info

We offer our German Courses

  • Year round
  • On all levels from A1 to C2
  • As intensive courses, evening courses, and as private courses
  • in small groups averaging 8 and limitied to maximum 12 students in size
  • Including placement testing, leisure activities, language tandem arrangements, certification, use of our library, media lab (internet, Wifi), kitchen

Tip

Our intensive courses take place Monday through Friday from 9.30 am to 2 pm.
We teach 5 lessons (x 45 min.) each day, and 25 lessons per week, 4 weeks per module, and 8 weeks per language level according to the European Standards, eg. A1.

Teaching Method

‚

We teach German entirely in German with a flexible mix of modern teaching methods:

  • Communication Method (Dialog principle)
  • Direct Method ("German to German")
  • Role-play and Situation playing
  • Project on culture and land
  • Excursions and general activities.

Teaching quality

To ensure a continuing course we teach languages with highly qualified and motivated Native speakers. Our teachers are regularly evaluated as well as internal and external trained further.

More over there is a teacher conference in every month where teaching updates and a progression are discussed.

In order to keep the homogeneity of the students levels in one group we test our course participants at the end of every course module.

Teaching material

Our basic training materials include:

  • Beginnner, A1 - B1: "Tangram 1 to 3", Hueber Verlag
  • B2, C1:  "em", Hueber Verlag
  • C2, DSH/TestDaF = „DSH Training“ (Fabouda Verlag) and "Auf neuen Wegen" Hueber Verlag
  • Our own authentic training material
  • Authentic (eg. exam preparatory) materials

TIP

In a German course at Kästner Kolleg we only speak German, and so you would speak German from the first day on. From the beginning you will go your own steps in the german speaking envirement and use your German out in every day life.

Course Levels and System

Beginners without prior knowledge of German

If you are a German beginner, we have special dates reserved for beginner courses which can be found here: Current Course Plan

With Prior Knowledg of German

If you already have some prior knowledge of German, you can join your course on any Monday of the year. With placement tests or trial classes we can quickly assess your current language level and find the fitting course for you. Hoever, if you want to start with a regular course module please see the dates here: Current Course Plan This way, you are best in step with our course system and the European Language Standards.

Course Levels

In the 3 basic levels (A1 - B1*) you would learn in each level 8 weeks with 25 x 45 min. per week. After that you are prepared fort the B1/ZD/DTZ exam.

BEGINNER (A1*)
ELEMENTARY (A2)
THRESHOLD (B1)

In the Intermediate level you learn 8 weeks with 25x45 min. up to the B2 level. With that you are prepared for the B2 or ZDfdB exam.

 


VANTAGE (B2)

In the advanced level C1/I you would learn 4 weeks with 25x45 min.per week and also prepare for the university exams DSH and TestDaF.

Afte that module you can have a 2 week training with 30x45 min./week which prepares you directly for DSH / TestDaF exams.

TIP:
If you should learn in a different tempo then our regular levels you can skip or repeat a level at any time.
