Assessments of competency in foreign languages and intercultural awareness

Which language prerequisites does a foreign doctor require for his licensure in Germany? By such (and similar) questions, entrepreneurs and authorities are often in the dark. In part, legal standards are missing which can give rise to a loss of orientation.

Kästner Kolleg can help through the assessment and respective evaluation(s) of:

  • language proficiency of the candidate or employe in accordance with the European Language Standards (A1 – C2)
  • academic qualifications as corresponding to German and international standards
  • intercultural awareness and speaking confidence level of your employees and candidates in relevant work situations

Based upon the results of the aptitude tests we develop precise and goal-centered individual learning and training concepts.

More over Kästner Kolleg is involved in a scientific project for assessment development according to European standards.

2. Foreign language and intercultural trainings

In order to master the target (foreign) communication situation, preparation for all possible scenarios is essential. For example, one does not suffice only to be well grounded in English; one must also be able to be applied in specific communicative situations- like in giving presentations, negotiating or on the telephone. These skills are able to be taught and acquired.

With clear objectives determined by your company's needs analysis and the potential analysis of your colleagues, we will devise your long-term training concept. Through practical application we ensure lasting success.

Not to be underestimated is the role of everyday social integration. It depends upon you whether someone feels comfortable long-term in a new and foreign environment, directly determining in turn their willingness to perform.

We offer you:

  • Training in (foreign) language skills, such as; presentations, negotiations, discussions (face-to-face, online or blended e-learning)
  • Coaching for specific situations on location and while travelling
  • Integration courses (German as a foreign language) and evening language courses for working professionals
  • Preparation for language examinations (TELC) in accordance with the European Framework of Reference. Kästner Kolleg is a licensed TELC Testing Center.
  • Intercultural Trainings in preparation for the employment abroad of your employees; for joint projects with your international partners; for the employees coming from a foreign culture, integration into your company as well as German everyday life

3. HR-Advising: upon the recruiting and integration of professional and managerial staff

With over 20 years of experience in foreign language training in all facets and on all levels, we carry comprehensive didactic knowhow as well as intercultural competency, both of which we would be pleased to impart upon you.

  • upon the hiring of foreign professional and managerial staff and the evaluation of (foreign) language and academic skills.
  • when faced with issues of compatibility between European and international language standards and examinations.

We advise you as professional and managerial staff:

  • if you would like to get a foothold in the German job market as a qualified professional.
  • if you need technical terminology to qualify for a job; in accordance with the European standard levels A1 to C2.
  • if there is the question of which international examinations or academic certificates are compatible in Germany.

Research Activity

Our research activities focus on cross-cultural studies, concerning issues of psychological, social and economical aspects of changing cultural environment.

We offer research and expertise on various aspects of individual’s adaptation to foreign culture, including specific organizational culture. Kästner Kolleg created original model for foreign employee integration to German organization, which is highly efficient and easily applicable within transnational recruitment & selection.
Experience in the field of Human Resources has led Kästner Kolleg to development of various comprehensive candidate/employee assessment programmes including development of various assessment techniques like multiple panel interview strategy, various assessment tests and a branch of new assessment centre techniques and exercises, which have been proved to be of significant validity.
